So I’ve been meaning to find an interesting way to show off some of cool bookish candles, and then I saw Brittany from A Book Addicts Guide do A Book and A Candle. Which is basically when she picks a book and a candle that she burned recently to talk about.
I liked that idea, but instead of picking random books to talk about, I’m going to do a book that I read that week, and a candle that either matches, or I burned a lot that week. We’ll see how this goes – I’m actually really excited!
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
The Book (That I actually reread…breaking my own rules the first week 😅): The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
The Candle: Percy Jackson (A Court of Candles)
Candle Scents: Ocean, Seaweed, Mint
As I’m sure most of you know, I read The Lightning Thief years ago, and it means a lot to me. I really wouldn’t be doing anything that I am now without it. So I’ll spare you my backstory. (Percy is my life 💙)
I just felt like rereading it this week, just for something comforting. I had somewhat of a mental breakdown on Sunday, which has never happened to me before, and I really needed something that made me feel good. (Long story – for another time.)
I loved it just as much as the first time! While I don’t read many middle-grade novels anymore, I still enjoyed it. It was nice to get back to what started it. I’m not going to go through all of the books, but I may just skip to my favorite parts. (That still counts as rereading, right? 😂)
BTW you can totally tell how battered my copy is 😂😅 The paperback I got from my dad when he told me I should read the books, so that’s why it’s so…let’s say loved. The hardcover came from Barnes & Noble a few months ago, and it’s a 10th anniversary edition…plus there was only one copy there and I couldn’t bear just leaving the store without it.
And the candle I decided to burn was obviously the Percy Jackson candle I got from A Court of Candles! When you first smell it, the scent is very similar to soap (like, dish soap) but when you actually burn it, it smells like the sea!
It was perfect! Just how I would imagine it! And it filled my bedroom nicely.
One of my favorite things about their candles is the labels! (A weird thing to like about a product, but just look at that label!) I don’t think I’ve seen another candle company with the same designs.
I talk more about A Court of Candles in a different post (HERE – forgive the format. I wrote this one SO long ago) so I’m not going to go into shipping or price or anything. But I was satisfied with both of those.
You’re probably interested in checking out candles from A Court of Candles, right? Well, here’s where to go ↓
I hope you guys liked that post! It’s experimental, and I actually really enjoyed writing it! Letting me know below is appreciated 💙
