Owlcrate Unboxing | September 2017

August Theme: Mythical Creatures

The September Owlcrate box was themed around all things mythical – mythical creatures especially!

Unfortunately, this was the first month that Owlcrate boxes sold out completely, so there isn’t any more left. They do have other past boxes available, if you’re interested! Check here – most of them are on sale!

What was inside the box:

I love the card and pin that came this month! The constellation design is so cool! The spoilers is usually on the back of these cards, so I don’t flip them over until the end.

For the first time, Owlcrate included a newsletter! It included interview with some of the suppliers and the author, as well as some fun games and the photo prompts* for this box!

*every month on their Instagram, Owlcrate does photo prompts to win a free box!

This cute coin purse was made exclusively by Owlcrate! Isn’t it the cutest? I might not use it, but my brother loves collecting little bags like this, so it’s probably heading his way!

A signed bookplate, letter and a guide to dragons was included with the book! The dragon guide is the coolest!

Book Beau

For the first time, Owlcrate has teamed up with the one-and-only Book Beau! The original creator of book sleeves!

It can hold most paperbacks and small hardcovers. You can tell it’s a bit bent – they had to do that to fit it in the box. But you can iron it out and wash it, so it should look fine.

Suzanne Draws

What would a Magical Creatures box be without Buckbeak! And of course Hagrid!

This item is a die-cut sticker, and also an Owlcrate Exclusive!

Ink and Wonder Deisgns

I can’t say I’ve ever owned a wooden bookmark, nor that I ever thought I’d like it. But it works surprisingly well! And the design is amazing!

I have never watched Game of Thrones (don’t throw things!) but I do love dragons, so…

It’s practically the same thing. (Noooo cries all the GoT fans…)

The Soap Librarian

The Soap Librarian made these exclusive bath salts, inspired by Percy Jackson (be still, my heart!).

I don’t use bath salts, but I do love the way it smells, and I’m sure either someone in my family will use it, or my brothers will turn it into a science experiment.

Before She Ignites

Jodi Meadows

Mira Minkoba is the Hopebearer. Since the day she was born, she’s been told she’s special. Important. Perfect. She’s known across the Fallen Isles not just for her beauty, but for the peace treaty named after her, an agreement which united the seven islands against their enemies on the mainland.

But Mira never felt perfect. She counts compulsively. She struggles with crippling anxiety. And she’s far too interested in dragons for a girl of her station.

Then Mira discovers an explosive secret that challenges everything she and the treaty stand for. Betrayed by the very people she spent her life serving, Mira is sentenced to the Pit—the deadliest prison in the Fallen Isles. There, a cruel guard would do anything to discover the secret she would die to protect.

No longer beholden to those who betrayed her, Mira must learn to survive on her own and unearth the dark truths about the Fallen Isles—and herself—before her very world begins to collapse.

I almost bought this book the day before I got my Owlcrate box, and I’m so glad I didn’t! I love dragons, and this has been on my TBR since forever!

And it has an exclusive cover too – the gold dragon on the front is supposed to be silver, if I’m not mistaken. And there might be more that I didn’t notice.

I’m really excited to read this book! Right now I’m reading Warcross (I’m in more of a sci-fi\dystopian mood) but this is most definitely one of my next reads!

I’m super excited for this box! It’s definitely my vibe – plus, for the first time, I may or may not have a theme trailer planned…😏
