Hello! I’m Marrill.
I’m the reader, writer, and reviewer behind Books and Ravens. A few facts about me:
• I’m sixteen & pansexual
• I obsesses over Piéra Forde
• I’m a Gryffindor
• Some of my favorite books of 2018 are: Children of Blood and Bone, The Traitor’s Game, Dance of Thieves, The Smoke Thieves, The Help, The Hate U Give and Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda
• I love seeing different cultures, religions, and ways of living in my reading. White & straight is v v boring.
What is Books and Ravens?
Fantasy books are talked about the most, especially anything with magic or a twist of mythology. I like characters with internal conflict and intense, yet interesting, world-building.
Book reviews, maybe an unboxing or two, upcoming releases, interviews and discussions are what you’ll find here. I’ll unbox a few bookish things, and
occasionally often shout about representation in fantasy (I haven’t found any pan characters yet!).
I love having discussions with my readers, so don’t hesitate to comment! All opinions and views are welcome here!
What is a Book Raven?
(i’m a bit obsessed with ravens, if you couldn’t tell)
Ravens are among the smartest animals, right up there with chimpanzees and dolphins. They can learn to speak, have been featured in many myths, are very adaptable, and are notorious pranksters. They roam in teenage gangs and show empathy for each other.
So what qualifies you as a Book Raven? You’re open to new ideas and corrections but can state your case somewhat eloquently. Even though you’re open, you still know how to think for yourself and not go along with the crowd if you don’t believe in it. You have a sense of humor and show empathy to those who need it.
You don’t have to be a Book Raven to be on my site, of course – Book Dragons, Unicorns and generally bibliophiles are all welcomed! Whatever you identify as you’ll find your place here.
I post discussions, interviews, etc. on Wednesdays and book reviews any other day of the week (whenever I finish a book).
*Disclaimer: since I’m doing NaNoWriMo in November, Friday’s will be writing updates, along with the normal posts on Wednesdays and book reviews.
