All of the worlds are based on England, or at least the UK, and everyone is white and straight and it’s SO BORING. Even though the storylines are different I feel like I’m reading the same thing over and over again.
Especially in fantasy books. Contemporary books have been getting more and more diverse, which is good, but I feel like we’re still working on fantasy.
To be clear: I don’t automatically hate these books or the people writing them. And it’s not like I can’t enjoy these books…but it’s like watching all the Marvel movies in one week. At some point, it starts to become repetitive.
Just in case you didn’t know. And that means it the start of Pride month and ALSO the start of #ReadingPride!
For those of you who missed it, #ReadingPride is a challenge I created which gives you the opportunity to read some of those LGBTQ+ books on your TBR, get some recommendations and maybe win some bookish things!
I figured a good way to start the month would be to talk about the books I’m planning on reading – and I’ve found many different genres and rep for my TBR! (still no pan characters…I’m not bitter) Along with a few that I’ve had on my TBR for a while.
And if you have any books your planning to read this month, tell me below! I want to know!Read More »
It’s not unknown that I’m not very good at keeping up with new releases. I read rather slowly, and because I’m trying to read all the cool new books coming out* I tend to forget about older, popular releases.
So I figured I’d make a list – because maybe some of these books are horrible and I dodged a bullet…or maybe I’ve totally missed out on the best book ever.**
I’ll admit I was in a bit of a reading slump in 2017, which means that I read a lot slower than normal, and I became rather picky about my books. So even though there were a lot of new releases I wanted to read, I never got around to them.
So why not list them all so you can silently judge me through the screen. or cry with me because let’s be honest
This tag was created by Lost in a Story, but I found it on Beaucoup Books. Basically it helps you go through your TBR, and also gives you blog post ideas! I enjoyed reading it on Jess’s blog, so I figured I’d give it a go.
So as I go through I’ll talk about the books, why I added them to my GoodReads TBR, and decide whether to keep them or remove them.
Let’s go through my TBR and hopefully remove some of my stress! at the same time!
